CherryVale Nursery

Cherryvale opened in May 1998 in what used to be Ash Vale Primary School which opened its doors to children in 1909 before closing its doors in 1993, where most children transferred to Holly Lodge. The school building holds many memories for local families in the community, with many family members, including grandparents as well as our staff actually attending the school themselves as children. The building has lots of character that we have tried to keep and offers the nursery lots of space, meaning whether it’s a sunny day or a rainy one, we have lots of spaces available to play and explore in. The nursery offers ample outdoor space with separate play areas for the younger children and equipment to support their physical development.

We are lucky enough to have a sheltered outdoor area which we reroofed from the old school. Inside, the building boasts five age group rooms with an abundance of space, meaning that we have separate sleep rooms in our two youngest rooms. There are also separate bathrooms for the younger and older children and a communal hall area for everyone to share and enjoy. Our latest additions to the nursery are a sensory room for the younger children and a retreat room for the nursery’s older children. As if all the space this building has to offer wasn’t enough, the children enjoy weekly cooking lessons and fitness Fridays as they work their way through the nursery before preparing them for school and beyond. We hope that all of the children and families who attend Cherryvale over the years look back on us with fond memories and that we give them the best start in life to reach their full potential.
